“I was here for work, so slightly different priorities. But I enjoyed breakfast in my room and the whole order the night before set up, which included the time you wished to eat. Breakfast was good. this also meant the room had a table, which in my situation was very useful. Tea and coffee etc could be replenished from hall box. Good quality toiletries. Comfortable bed. Car parking on site, in fact very convenient all round.”

“I have nothing to compare it with as this is my first experience of youth hostels in 40 years. I was impressed. I loved the open area, bar and restaurant. The dormitory was excellent. Beds were well spaced, ample plug sockets, mattress & pillows excellent. Clean sheets and super mattress. The bed was as good as any 5 star hotel. Honestly. The shower was clean but a little small. The facilities in the kitchen were good but some of the pans had loose handles. The staff clearly clean but somehow...

“Staff could not have been more helpful. Home from home with super public areas and wonderful food. A gem we will visit again soon!”

“You don't get good feeling when you get into the room and there weren't shampoo/body wash (delivered next morning). There is no reception and a call to the hotel, it was received by property manager. She mentioned that we didn't had the reservation from Expedia but upon insisting, she found it and took 10 mins to arrive for letting us in. For the price, it's not what I had expected from the room & amenities”

“The breakfast was stunning! Beautifully cooked with quality ingredients. ”

“Spotless rooms. Welcoming staff. River view behind the hotel. Good place to travel around allocations. Very close to town centre.”

“We had a great time at Lanehead Old School - stopping here for one night as part of our C2C route. Lisa was beyond accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure we were ok, fed and watered. Thank you Lisa for being so accommodating and welcoming.”

“Fantastic place to stay and you are also supporting the fire fighters charity amazing place and ideal location will definitely be returning in the future 👍”

“Gorgeous house in the heart of Kirkby Stephen. Spotlessly clean with everything we needed. The weather was particularly bad when we came up so it was the perfect place for us to stay as it was so cosy. We cooked a couple of evenings in and had no problems doing it. The bed was so comfy and the shower was lovely and hot too! We spent a few days visiting the Iron Forge for drinks that took us about 2 minutes to get there. We also had their pre-book able meal cooked on a hot stone that was amazing....

“Lovely place, perfect for groups. Pool table was a hit. Only negative was the couches in the main room were a bit old and had the arm rest cushion had gone so it was just wood. Needs replacing. But that’s only minor.”

“Perfect trip for couples. Great room!”
